"I stayed in Doonmore Hotel for a night along with my dog Daisy, a springer spaniel, in July 2017. The weather unfortunately was miserable, but this was more than compensated for by the warm welcome we received in Doonmore. We were met at the pier and transferred to the hotel by minibus where we were registered and shown to our room. The hotel is an old style, family run business with great character - cosy and comfortable. Hunkered into the landscape, with views onto the coastline. Our room was in keeping with the period of the hotel; very clean and the bed super comfortable. I found the staff genuinely friendly and very helpful and the food was simply delicious and plentiful. Traveling with your dog can be challenging at times, so finding a hotel that has pet friendly rooms is a joy. Despite the weather we went for a walk that evening and explored some of the truly amazing scenery to be found on the island. On our return, wet and bedraggled, we were delighted to find the heating on in our room which enabled us both to dry off. Next morning, after a fortifying and yummy breakfast, we set out to discover more of Bofin. We were able to leave our rucksacks at the hotel where they would be delivered to the pier for us in time for the lunchtime ferry, leaving us more time to ramble. The island is truly beautiful. It has a special feel - serene yet bleak, which seems a contradiction but somehow wasn’t. I would love to go back and see it in better weather and I will certainly be hoping to stay at the Doonmore on my return. "
