A few days in the Twelve hotel..

"My wife and I spent a few days in the Twelve hotel in Barna with our Siberian Husky. The Twelve advertises itself as a pet friendly hotel and they more than lived up to this billing. On arrival, as well as a refreshing drink for my wife and I, there was also a gift bag in the room for the dog which included a toy, chews, treats, pooh bags and a voucher for the pet salon just across the road (he got lots of enjoyment from the toy). We were checked in by a very pleasant receptionist who loved our dog (all of the staff we dealt with were very pleasant and professional and most were also animal lovers). Because we had booked in with a pet we were in a suite (you pay extra for it, but it's worth it). The room was nicely furnished with a hardwood floor which suits pets. The only place off limits for the dog was the bar and restaurant area for obvious enough reasons. However, the staff were quite happy to serve us outside in a covered area with tables occasionally used by smokers. The food was of good quality and a container of water was always made available for our canine companion. The hotel is situated in the village of Barna and is short walk away from a pier and beach. We found a nice, enclosed beach a few hundred yards away where we could let the dog off the leash (Huskies are not dogs you generally leave off leash as they are at risk of running and not stopping for several miles). Barna is a relatively short drive away from lots of scenic spots from Spiddal to Clifden and Kylemore Abbey. In summary, we found the hotel a pleasant place to stay with very pleasant and helpful staff. I can thoroughly recommend this hotel if you want to bring along your pet dog."
